Lim Chu Kang Jetty

Video of Lim Chu Kang Jetty, where we interviewed the people who were there for a wide array of reasons: fishing, enjoying the sunset, contemplating about life…….

But what is most interesting is what the fishermen who came back with bags of clams and cockles, said about the changes of the state of Singapore’s fisheries and the stringent management of it by the Agri-Food and Veterinary of Singapore (AVA). The role of the state in the management of natural spaces (in this case the sea) is prevalent, and it drastically changes the relationship that citizens have with nature through time.

Although this location is not part of the itinerary, it is very useful in providing insight into what could be the reason leading to the decline in numbers of Kelongs. The poor conditions of the waters, the restrictions imposed by the AVA are some of the likely reasons.
